Which glasses are in Lounge 2.0?
Five stemless models: tumblers of 23.8 and 30.9 cl, long drink glasses of 24.7 and 30.5 cl and a shot glass of 5.5 cl. That covers drinks on ice, long drinks and spirits in one go.
Why do these glasses have a thick base?
A heavy base lowers the centre of gravity, so a glass does not topple when someone brushes past the bar. The glass also feels sturdier in the hand, and the solid part keeps a drink with ice cold slightly longer.
Which size suits a gin and tonic?
The long drink glass of 30.5 cl. Count on roughly half ice, so fill the glass completely with cubes first, pour in the gin and then run the tonic down the wall so the bubbles stay put.
Can ice go straight into a warm glass?
Better not. A glass that has just come out of the dishwasher is still warm, and the thick base reacts to cold more slowly than the thin wall. Let the glass cool to room temperature first and fill it with ice after that.
