What is Malibu Piña Colada?

A Piña Colada without a blender

Malibu Piña Colada is ready to drink: a ready-made cocktail in a 25 cl can, made with Malibu, coconut and pineapple flavor. The alcohol is already diluted to 5%, about the same as a regular beer. You don't need to measure or mix anything.

That makes it ideal for the beach, a festival or the picnic basket. It is a different drink from the cocktail served at a bar: lighter, fizzier and less creamy, because it contains no coconut cream or blended ice. If you want the full, creamy version, make your own Piña Colada with Malibu Coconut, pineapple juice and coconut cream.

How to drink it

From the can, or homemade

Drink the can as it is. The only things you can improve are the temperature and the glass; and if you have time, blend the real thing.

Over ice in a highball glass

Chill the can in the refrigerator for a few hours and pour it over plenty of ice in a highball glass, with a pineapple wedge on the rim. This keeps it cold until the last sip.

Homemade: the real Piña Colada

50 ml Malibu Coconut, 30 ml white rum, 90 ml pineapple juice and 30 ml coconut cream blended with ice. Pour into a hurricane glass. Creamy and stronger than the can.

Alcohol-free

For those who don't drink: 120 ml pineapple juice and 40 ml coconut cream blended with ice into a Virgin Piña Colada. Same glass, same holiday feeling.
