Sint-Bernardus
Sint-Bernardus brouwt in Watou, in de Westhoek, in het westen van Vlaanderen. Begin vorige eeuw vluchtten trappisten van de Catsberg naar dat dorp; kort na de Tweede Wereldoorlog vroegen de monniken van Westvleteren aan Evariste Deconinck om hun bieren onder licentie te brouwen. Die licentie liep tot 1992, en sindsdien gaan de bieren onder de eigen naam de deur uit.
Het glas erbij is een ronde kelk op voet van drieëndertig centiliter. Die brede buik geeft een royale schuimkraag de ruimte en stuurt de moutige, fruitige geuren naar boven; de rand loopt iets naar binnen en houdt ze daar. Zo'n kelk hoort bij een bier dat je langzaam drinkt, aan tafel of bij de kaas. Meer modellen staan bij de Belgische bierglazen.
